Liz and Matt planned a beautiful fall country wedding for September. If you have ever been to South Dakota, you know that’s the perfect time of year. There was the slightest breeze, and it was the most gorgeous autumn day. When I arrived, Liz had all her details laid out for me so organized and well-thought out. And that really is how the entire day went! Every detail was thought of and every moment meant something to these two, who met at church just a year and a half ago. Once they fell for each other, they fell hard, and it was the sweetest to be able to document their day.
All of the sunflower yellow and burgundy details at Liz and Matt’s rustic wedding made me so happy – how can yellow not make you happy!? I loved all the thoughtful nods to their family throughout the day, but the best moment actually happened at the reception. Liz’s grandpa, who is such an important and special person in her life, wasn’t able to make it to the wedding because he was ill. They had planned to dance to his song, You Are My Sunshine by Johnny Cash. When they realized he wouldn’t be making it, Liz thought the dance wouldn’t be happening either.
Little did she know, her sweet new husband was planning something for her. Matt came up to me as the reception started to let me know that the dance would still be happening, and all of the important men in Liz’s life would take a turn spinning her around the dance floor. When the time came for the dance, Liz was so surprised. It was such a sweet, tearful moment to watch, and I’m so happy that Liz got a dance for her grandpa, even if it was different than she planned.
Liz and Matt, I wish you nothing but the best in your life together. I’m so excited to see where the future takes you! Cheers!
