There used to be two things that literally kept me up at night when it came to my business: taxes, and contracts. The first thing I outsourced was my bookkeeping and accounting, and I quickly also prioritized having a professional create contracts for me, too. I’ve learned that it’s just not worth opening yourself up to potential issues when you can be protected, so a contract has always been a priority for me.
Of course, I fully recognize that working with a lawyer to create custom contracts is an investment. A worthy investment, but still an investment. And when you’re just getting started making money, it can feel like a lot to spend a bunch on something that you hopefully never need to really use.
That’s why I’m constantly sending friends and clients to The Legal Paige. Paige has designed contracts and clauses that you can purchase and download without the hassle of finding a lawyer. I’m a huge fan of her products and highly recommend them. Below are a few of my favorites that may help you, too!
Brand and Commercial Photography Contract (A solid cover-your-butt contract for being a brand photographer)
Non-exclusive Licensing Agreement (If you’re working with commercial clients and need to negotiate licensing, this contract will protect you)
1:1 Coaching (If you’ve added coaching to your business or want to next year, you need to protect that part of your business, too!)
Website Privacy Policy (Did you know it’s illegal to take someone’s email address or personal information for your email list without a privacy policy?!)
