This episode is part of my five-part quiz series, where I tell you all about. The different archetypes of brand photographers. You can go to Maddie. Dot com slash quiz. If you don't know what your archetype is, you're going to take the quiz. And then I will tell you which of the four types you are as a brand photographer. This episode is all about the dual positioned brand photographer.

Wireless Microphone RX:

The dual possession photographer is the second most common, most popular. Photographer that I work with. The dual position. Photographer is a photographer who is interested in adding brand photography to their services, but they are not interested in leaving weddings or portraits behind. Sometimes these photographers will tell me they have no interest in leaving those things behind. They still want to offer family sessions in the fall. They still want to take a couple of weddings a year. Uh, and sometimes photographers will tell me that they eventually want to leave those things behind, but they want to do more of a slow pivot into brand photography. And the ladder is the camp that I fell into. I very much wanted to only do brand photography, but I just was apprehensive to like, let everything else go and pursue brand photography full on. So I had a very slow pivot. I had years where I was. Still shooting. Weddings are still shooting families and just not bringing it into my brand. So that's one of the first decisions that you will want to make as a dual position photographer is what does your brand look like? What do you want to be known for? And sometimes this means that dual position photographers will have duplicates of everything. They'll have multiple Instagram accounts. They'll have multiple websites. Sometimes it means that everything just lives really cohesively under one account or under one website. I have seen both work really well, but you do need to be really, really clear on what it is that you want.

In order to charge four figures for brand photography in order to have a six figure brand photography business. You need to have a personal brand that makes booking brand photography really easy. And that's difficult to do if you're not clear on your business and on your goals, it is easier when you have really crystal clear positioning. So as a dual position photographer, there are very specific things that I'm going to want you to consider so you can have success with brand photography. This starts with your positioning and where you're at online, your social media, your website. But it also gets into your marketing marketing brand. Photography is different than marketing, other types of photography, portraits, and wedding photography. You are talking to a client who's at a very different part of the buying journey. And so how you speak to them in a way that really educates them about brand photography and how you can help. It's a really different process. So you want to make sure that your words are cutting through all of that noise and that they understand that some of the problems that they're having in their business are the things that aren't quite right. Can be solved by brand photography. And then lastly, your client experience is extremely important. Client experience is always going to be important with photography, but brand photography is really unique because you're working with businesses and brands. So client experience looks different then helping mom put together outfits that look good together for family photos. Brand photography. Clients are also different because they are often repeat clients, but you need to make sure that your business is set up in a way where it is inviting for people to become repeat clients. A lot of the time we are constantly looking for the next sale and brand photography is really exciting because you don't always have to do that. A lot of your business can come from those repeat clients, but that's not going to happen if you're not strategically set up for them to come back. If you're a dual position photographer, I would love to hear from you. Dual position photographers are the second majority of clients that I work with inside of rebrand. This is a really common one. And I do have to say that a lot of people will come in as dwell position photographers. And then by the time we are done working together, they consider themselves more exclusive or elite brand photographers, which we'll talk about in other episodes. But I do have some clients who continue to want to pursue. Doing other types of photography and it's something that you can absolutely do. You do not have to burn down your wedding and portrait business to add brand photography. You just have to do it in a strategic way.
