One of the most common questions I get is, “Am I ready to be a brand photographer?” And this is actually a loaded question.
In my experience, there are four types of photographers who are interested in brand photography. To help you figure out where you stand and what steps you should take next, I created a quiz called “Are You Ready To Be a Brand Photographer?”
In this episode, we’ll dive into the quiz and these four brand photographer types. By taking the quiz, you’ll discover your type and get a clear roadmap for what you should focus on to start charging four figures as a brand photographer.
In the next four episodes of the Take It Personally, we’ll explore each brand photographer type in more depth, giving you actionable steps to become the go-to brand photographer in your area.

And I know you can do the same. Let's get ready to take it personally.
Wireless Microphone RX-1:One of the most common questions that I get is some flavor of, am I ready to be a brand photographer? And I think when people ask this question, they're actually asking a lot of other questions, right? Like, Not only am I ready to be a brand photographer, but can I make money as a brand photographer? Can I get booked as a brand photographer? Will people ever know me as a brand photographer. Do I want to be known as a brand photographer? This is a really loaded question. And my answer is actually not always a blanket. Yes. Well, I think that a lot of portrait and wedding photographers are perfectly positioned to be able to take on brand photography. It's not going to be for everyone most obviously, if you love portraits and love weddings and have no interest in adding anything else to your plate, I completely understand that. But for the rest of us spring, photography can be a really great way. To get out of the hustle of giving up all of your nights and weekends in order to make a living as a photographer. It can also be a really fulfilling type of photography, especially for those people who maybe have a background in marketing or PR branding or communications. And it can be a great way to continue serving your other photography clients that come to you with different needs. Right? It's another way to continue working with the same clients that you know, and that you love. And what I realized after running now. Gosh. I think coming up on six cohorts of rebrand, my group coaching program for photographers who want to get into branding. What I've realized is that I tend to see four types of photographers who are interested in brand photography. I wanted a way to kind of give people what they need. Like if you are this particular photographer, here's what you need to work on to get to the point where you can charge four figures. And if you're interested in rebrand, like here's what you need to work on to be able to come into the program and have your business just take off with brand photography. So I have created a quiz called are you ready to be a brand photographer? It lives on my website. If you go to my website, you're going to see. The quiz, but you can also go to Maddie Dot com slash quiz. And you can take that quiz there. And I really encourage you to do this. If brand photography is on your radar, and if you have already been shooting brand photography, I still want you to take it because this quiz is going to tell you what type of brand photographer you are. Now I'm going to go into these in other episodes, I'm dropping a bunch of episodes at once this week. So you can go ahead and binge them all. They're all going to be super short, but the four different types of brand photographers. Our brand new photographers. So these people are maybe still learning how to use their camera. They're very new to their photography business, or they haven't been in business very long or maybe they haven't started a business at all. They just want to go straight to brand photography. The next type of photographer I see is a dual positioned brand photographer. This is a photographer who is interested in brand photography, but doesn't want to stop doing other types of photography. Then we have our exclusive brand photographer. This photographer is ready to get their nights and weekends back. They have no interest in continuing to do portraits and weddings. They are all in on brand photography. And then we have our elite brand photographer. Our elite brand photographer has maybe booked a few brand sessions in the past. They've perhaps had some success with brand photography. But they're also not totally sold that their systems are what they need to be because they're wanting to scale their business. The next thing that they're shooting for is really like that six-figure photography business with brand photography. And they're not totally sure what a clear path to that is, even though they have some experience with brand photography. You can find out what your type is when you take the quiz maddie push on.com/quiz. I'm going to tell you what type of brand photographer you are. And then I am going to give you a crystal clear path. To what you need to be doing, what you need to be working on. To be able to charge four figures as April and photographer. I have worked with dozens of photographers who want to pivot into personal brand photography. And this quiz is essentially my findings from working with those people.
Wireless Microphone RX-2:I want you to go to Maddie. Dot com slash quiz and take the quiz. And then you can go ahead and listen to the next four episodes. And those episodes are going to talk more about each of the different types of brand photographers and what those particular types of brand photographers should be doing should be working on to be able to charge four figures for brand photography, to become known as the brand photographer in your area. And scale your business to six figures with brand photography.
