I don’t think I can properly put into words the amount of fun we had planning and shooting Miss Em’s senior session in Sioux City this summer. Emily has been a family friend of my family’s for years; I have literally seen this girl grow up! We spent a week every summer in the same northern Minnesota vacation spot, and when I moved to Sioux City for college, this family was the only one I knew!
Then, after years of chatting with Emily’s mom over the camp fire about our shared love of books and public relations, she got me my first job out of college and was my boss! I’m not kidding when I say it was a dream job, or that Liz was the best boss ever. Seriously!
We’ve all stayed in touch through the years, and I was lucky enough to work with Emily’s cousins over the past couple years on their senior photos, too. Is it clear yet that I love this family? Because I love this family.
No one has a better personality than Emily. She is beyond easy to talk to, and so bubbly and hilarious. Liz requested photos of Emily’s awesome laugh, and I can’t say that was hard to get! We basically laughed the whole time!
It was also so fun to shoot in Sioux City after summer of seniors in Sioux Falls. We started out at East High School, where Emily is a show choir queen and cheerleader. I love these images and they were all her idea!
This is one of my fave shots of Emily overlooking campus. So cool!
Emily’s family lives on the old golf course, so their backyard is basically the woods and it’s SO COOL. We probably could have shot back there all day. It was so pretty!
Some of my favorite senior shots this year are of them simply walking toward me. I love the organic movement and expressions! Emily’s dress here was so perfect.
SO PRETTY.
We had to get their Golden Retriever, Harlee, in a couple photos as well, although she was way more interested in playing! With a Golden at my house, too, I totally know how that goes!
That green cargo utility vest. I DIE.
I love the sign Liz had for Emily to pose with!
We also spent some time downtown, which made for even more great backdrops.
This was such a cool spot! I’ve got a thing for ivy on brick.
Liz and Emily went scouting before our session and found such neat spots! This was an old garage, and I loved the bright yellow door. I don’t usually shoot in full sun, but we had a ton of fun with her sunglasses and hat and I’m so glad we took the risk!
I can’t help but want to sing Uptown Girl when I see these!
The last spot was a parking garage! We started on top for some full sun, great views, and killer poses.
And finished up inside. I don’t think Emily took a bad photo the entire shoot (and it was a long one!). She’s so fun and photogenic.
Emily and Liz, thank you so much for letting me be part of your senior year! I LOVED working with both of you! Emily, I hope you have an awesome rest of your senior year!
