Happy Super Bowl Sunday!
Do you have any Super Bowl traditions? Jeff and I are laying low this year. I’m celebrating the game by not knowing who is actually playing, just like every year.
I ventured to Hyvee earlier, but even that was a little tricky due to all the snow we’ve gotten, and the fact that our neighborhood is very much not plowed. God bless four wheel drive.
Also, let’s just remember for a second where we were a year ago today:
Watching the Super Bowl on a beach in Jamaica.
So that’s depressing.
I think I’ll drink away the pain.
Just kidding. But I really did want a Bloody Mary today because they really are theeee best drinks ever. I have a deep, intense love for Bloody Mary’s.
Since today was basically a snow day AND Super Bowl day, I decide that made it special enough to try my hand at some homemade bloodies. I found this recipe which gave me a great starting point, but it was a tad too tomato-y for my taste. I also possibly did it wrong because a mixologist I am not.
Homemade Bloody Mary [Mix]
Adapted from this recipe
3 Tbsp dijon mustard
4 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1-2 Tbsp hot sauce (to taste)
juice of 2 lemons
juice of 1-2 limes
3 Tbsp olive brine
1 tsp celery seed
2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1 quart V8 vegetable juice (I used Original flavor)
Celery/pickles/olives/lime wedges for garnish
Vodka for mixing
Combine all ingredients together and whisk. Chill in fridge until ready to drink. Drink plain, or mix 1 part vodka/4 parts mix (ish) with ice. Garnish with celery/pickles/olives/lime wedges.
Enjoy!
